Shoreham Beach 11th Feb 2007 | February 11, 2007

Shoreham Beach 11/02/06

turned up at shoreham in the face of a mass exodus to worthing, i decided against it which in hind sight was probably the wrong thing to do.

Really clean long sets coming through which is rare for shoreham. I hope the big seas this winter have changed the sea bed a bit. I did notice a beach ball sized rock had been moved from the groine to about 5 meters down the beach.

The cross-off wind was even blowing plumes of white water off the top, very good for the ham, shame the wind was so iffy. Click 'Read More' to see some video

Board Repair 101 | February 7, 2007

Argh, not pretty!

I got this JP freestyle 91 Pro from lucy who had managed to make a right mess of the nose. Shows why not to let go half way round forwards. Thought i'd have a crack (excuse the pun) at a home made repair.

Waves at Sea Lane Cafe- Goring | January 17, 2007

Surfer paddling out

Tried a sail on the River on saturday morning the tide was a 6.2 so was perfect as it was level with the bank but unfortunatly the wind was a little too westerly and about 5kts too light. Stopped off at shoreham beach but it was just choppy with a large shorebreak. Headed down to the Sea Lane cafe to find a nice swell rolling in. Wind was a bit fluky so waited in the cafe for half an hour. Launched on a 5.2 and had an excellent hour until a squall cane through and killed the wind. When it had passed the wind filled back in again but the waves dissapeared with the tide. Was supprisung how quickly the waves dropped back and how far the tide went out!

Went back for more of the same on sunday but the wind had swung a little offshore (NW) which created a big wind shadow on the inside. Annoyingly there was not quite enough to get out past the shorebreak.
The remaining swell produced some of the best waves i've ever seen at Worthing. Took some photos of the surfing, please click the images link to view.
