Tried a sail on the River on saturday morning the tide was a 6.2 so was perfect as it was level
with the bank but unfortunatly the wind was a little too westerly and
about 5kts too light. Stopped off at shoreham beach but it was just
choppy with a large shorebreak. Headed down to the Sea Lane cafe to
find a nice swell rolling in. Wind was a bit fluky so waited in the
cafe for half an hour. Launched on a 5.2 and had an excellent hour
until a squall cane through and killed the wind. When it had passed the
wind filled back in again but the waves dissapeared with the tide. Was
supprisung how quickly the waves dropped back and how far the tide went
out!
Went back for more of the same on sunday but the wind had
swung a little offshore (NW) which created a big wind shadow on the
inside. Annoyingly there was not quite enough to get out past the
shorebreak.
The remaining swell produced some of the best waves i've
ever seen at Worthing.
